Company profile
RVI produces and distributes insects and other organisms, supplies and tools for the biological control of pests. We have been the pioneer in biological control by natural enemies since the late 1950s, for an industry that grew up around us.
We maintain distinction within the industry in our development work and in our emphasis on building habitat diversity and conserving natural enemies. That is what makes a biological control program both affordable and effective — not a single release, but a field that keeps its own predators alive.
Among our thousands of customers are small to mid-size farms, orchards, greenhouses, nurseries, public gardens and gardeners. Our fly control programs treat small and large facilities that handle animal manure and waste. Hundreds of universities call RVI for organisms for research and instruction.

Our technical support builds on the Five Features of IPM. Programs for success consider the agricultural practices and other factors that influence the balance between predator and prey.
From insects to microbes to D-Vac
Biological control programs may include commercially available predators, parasites, pathogens and antagonists. Don't forget to build biologically active soils and boost them with our line of inoculants — and we have microbial and botanical pesticides for hot spots.
The catalogue
We produce and distribute organisms reared on-site and by trusted producers. Tell us the pest and the crop, and we will tell you which natural enemy belongs there.
Larvae shipped in corrugated cells with a mesh face, so they arrive hungry and intact and go straight into the canopy.
Shaken out around roots and along leaf litter — a bottle, a walk down the row, and the predators are where the pest already is.
Perforated so one card tears into as many release points as the block needs. No equipment, no calibration, no re-entry interval.
Our biting fly trap has a following — and a website — of its own, and it works a long way from Ventura County.
Habitat is the cheapest natural enemy you will ever buy. Sow it once and the beneficials you paid for have a reason to stay.
Soil inoculants, microbe nutrients, nematodes in bulk — and a Pest Control Advisor on the phone who has seen your problem before.

The D-Vac vacuum insect net
The D-Vac is how a field gets sampled honestly — a vacuum insect net that lifts what is actually living in the crop into a collecting cone, pest and predator together, so a decision rests on numbers instead of a hunch.
It is built here in Ventura, for the growers and researchers who need a count they can repeat. Hundreds of universities already call RVI for organisms for research and instruction. Ask us for the D-Vac history if you want the long version — it is a good story.
